A Young Anime Enthusiast on a Mission
Hi, my name is Iulia Faciu. I am from Germany and currently 15 years old. I’ve been living in Singapore for 12 years and attend an international German school. I am very passionate about anime, manga, and anything related to Japan, though this wasn’t always the case. Here’s my story of how I started getting into anime.
Initially, I disliked anime due to how women were portrayed, as I had only been exposed to the negative aspects. However, at the end of 7th grade, I began exploring anime more deeply and realized I hadn’t given it a fair chance. I discovered many interesting and engaging anime series that depicted women in a more balanced and positive way, breaking the stereotypes I initially believed in.
Occasionally, I still come across those awkward moments in anime where women are portrayed unrealistically or with high-pitched voices, but I try not to let it affect my overall enjoyment. This is why I tend to prefer shounen anime over shoujo!
Mission Statement
I created this website to inform people about why anime sometimes receives criticism and to showcase both the pros and cons of anime, whether they are passionate anime-manga enthusiasts or complete newcomers.
My aim is to study and share information on various aspects of anime, including its positive and negative elements, compelling characters, intriguing plots, portrayals of women, subcultures (such as otaku and weeb culture), food, fashion, societal impact, themes, and visual artistry.
My primary goal is to create a platform where people can learn more about anime, encouraging them to watch it, read manga, or simply become more engaged with Japanese culture. I hope this platform will help dispel some of the negative stereotypes associated with the genre.
To achieve this goal, I plan to conduct interviews with creators, anime experts, and scholars, and upload videos, recipes, and blog posts based on my own research and experiences.
